Translation and Interpreting

Course details

The graduate of Translation and Interpreting programme will have acquired a wide theoretical knowledge of translation and interpreting history, theory and methodology. His/her level of mastering the languages of her/his combination will be very high. He/she will also have the knowledge of the contrastive grammar, lexicology and stylistics as well as of the culture, history and literature of the regions in which the studied languages are spoken. The graduate will have a perfect mastery of the skills, procedures and strategies of the literary and non-literary translation as well as of the simultaneous and consecutive interpreting. The study programme also covers the basics of law and economics.
After acquiring Master’s degree in Translation and Interpreting, the graduate will have acquired the terminology from the fields of Translation Studies, contrastive and general linguistics and literary studies. He/she will be able to translate and interpret texts that do not use highly specialised language, work out glossaries and use translator aids. After graduating from Translation and Interpreting programme, one will also have mastered basic and advanced metacognitive tasks, mainly concerned with studying (organising work, acquiring up-to date information) and communication (with clients etc.).
