Translation between Theory and Practice – Bachelor (Classical Philology)
Course details
Bachelor (Classical Philology) Translation between Theory and Practice
The course introduces students to the main contemporary theories of translation, focusing on the dialogue between theoretical propositions and the possibilities for their application in different translation contexts. The course aims to lay the foundations for some of the key eight competencies of literary translation according to the PETRA-E framework for the education and training of literary translators. As an illustration of the dialogue between theory and practice in translation work, participants are required to present their own work related to the specific theoretical aspects and models discussed in class. As a result of their own development and presentations in the classes, the participants create their own portfolio with examples and samples of the application of various theoretical models in translation from the foreign languages they study to their native language or from their native language to the foreign languages they study.
