Literary Translation into Finnish, 6–8 ECTS. Preceding studies required: Basic and intermediate studies in English completed in full. OBJECTIVES: Students are familiar with the prevailing norms and special problems and strategies involved in literary translation into Finnish and are capable of applying these to translation of a relatively easy literary text into Finnish. CONTENTS: Students translate a novel to be published into Finnish with supervision from an experienced Finnish literary translator. Tutorials 33 hrs, classes 3 hrs/wk. The course lasts 3 periods (II–IV).
