Literary Translation Research

Course details

Literary Translation Research, 3–5 cr. A theoretical course introducing research into literary translations and, consequently, specialised problems in literary translation and translation of different literary genres. OBJECTIVE: Upon completion of the course, students know the different genres of translated literature and are familiar with different research methods of literary translation and translation criticism. Students know how to apply literary translation research methods to analysis of literary texts. CONTENTS: Literary translation genres, translation criticism, translation analysis. Analysis of narrative translations, the translator’s voice. COMPLETION: 3–5 cr.: lectures (14–28 hrs) and a final paper; alternatively, a set-book examination. EVALUTION: 0–5
