Practical Translation Workshop – Bachelor (Classical Philology)
Course details
The course introduces participants to the fundamental parameters of diverse ancient genres from a translation perspective. The participants engage in the practice of reading and interpreting the texts with the objective of developing an understanding of their cultural context, which is then applied to the process of literary translation. They are required to produce their own translations, which are subsequently discussed by all participants during the class. Finally, the students are expected to justify the rationale behind their translation decisions. Students are encouraged to apply their theoretical knowledge of interlanguage transformations and interculturality to develop effective translation strategies that can overcome the boundaries created in the process of intercultural communication.
