Translation module
Part of Bachelor (Hispanic Studies)
The Translation module is one of several modules between which students of Spanish philology have to choose in order to graduate. Upon completing it successfully, they receive the additional professional qualification of ‘translator/interpreter with Spanish’. The Translation module includes the following obligatory courses: Translation of political texts; Translation of scientific and media texts; Theory and practice of translation; Language variety and translation; Lexicology, phraseology and translation; Editing and proofreading of translated texts; Linguistics in support of translation; Translation of literary texts from Spanish; Interpretation. The module offers as well the following optional courses: Introduction to Commercial law for the purposes of translation; Poetry translation; Translation of documents; Translation of medical texts; Translation of fiction from Bulgarian to Spanish; Translation of technical texts; Introduction to Economics for the purposes of translation; Translation for theatre and cinema. To complete the module students must take all the obligatory courses and four of the optional ones.
